College Draft Profile: Pat Blair

Pat Blair, SS, Wake Forest University

Class: Senior; Height: 5-10; Weight: 180; B/T: R/R

A 24th round pick last June by the Astros, Blair chose not to sign, opting instead to head back to Wake Forest for his senior year. And the Demon Deacons’ shortstop turned in his best season to date, hitting .283/.459/.424 with 14 doubles, a pair of triples, three homeruns, and 19 stolen bases (in 21 attempts).

According to CollegeSplits.com, Blair’s adjusted Weighted On Base Average is a solid .420.

Projection: Blair has a below-average hit tool and power, but he does offer speed and tremendous on-base skills. He’s walked in more than 22% of his plate appearances this season. And while he’s not likely to find his way to the big leagues, a middle infielder with a plus-eye and speed can be very beneficial as an org-type.

Ceiling: 0.5- 1.0- win player

Likelihood of Reaching His Ceiling: Low to Moderate

Drafted: Later Rounds
