College Draft Profile: Tony Rizzotti

Tony Rizzotti, RHP, Tulane University

Class: Sophomore (Red Shirt); Height: 6-4; Weight: 225

Updated: 06/04/13

Rizzotti, who began his collegiate career with TCU and transferred to Grayson College the following year, has finally found a home with Tulane. In 12 starts, the 6-foot-4 right-hander has struck out 57 (6.33 K/9) and walked 23 (2.56 BB/9) in 81 innings. His ERA thus far, 2.22, is far less impressive than his run of the mill 3.87 FIP.

Projection: Prior to this season, Rizzotti had thrown just 4.2 innings in his career, so there’s very little data to analyze. On the positive side, however, he has room to grow and has very little wear and tear on his right arm. With the available data, he looks like bullpen fodder. But, again, there’s going to be some upside in his potential here.

Ceiling: 1.0-win player

Likelihood of Reaching His Ceiling: Moderate

Drafted: Fourth Round
