College Draft Profile: Hunter Renfroe

Hunter Renfroe, RF, Mississippi State University

Class: Junior; Height: 6-1; Weight: 216; B/T: R/R

Update: 06/02/13

Renfroe went from hitting .252/.328/.374 in 2012 to a whopping .345/.435/.632 this year, showing above-average power (15 doubles, a pair of triples, and 15 dingers), a smattering a speed (nine stolen bases in 12 attempts), while posting a park and schedule-adjusted .458 wOBA (according to CollegeSplits.com).

The biggest development for Renfroe, however, is his plate discipline. After sporting an awful 21-to-51 K/BB ratio last season, he’s improved it to 34/39.

Projection: Having spent some time behind the plate as well as on the mound, Renfroe is certainly one of the more athletic prospects in the collegiate class. But with that being said, there’s a rather sizeable risk given that his production is relegated to this year. Still, though, he could be an above-average regular, maybe similar to a Hunter Pence or so.

Ceiling: 3.0-win player

Likelihood of Reaching His Ceiling: Moderate

Drafted: First Round
