College Draft Profile: Andrew Thurman

Andrew Thurman, RHP, UC Irvine

Class: Junior; Height: 6-3; Weight: 205

Updated: 06/02/13

Thurman turned in another solid campaign, throwing 100.3 innings with 91 strikeouts (8.16 K/9) and just 19 walks (1.70 BB/9). This, of course, comes on the heels of an impressive sophomore season and a strong showing in the Cape, where his K-rate spiked noticeably (11.47 K/9 — including the Cape playoffs).

Projection: Useful, #4-type ceiling. He’s always shown a strong ability to pound the zone, average-ish K-rates, and teams could certainly do worse in the latter part of the first or early second rounds.

Ceiling: 1.5- to 2.0-win player

Likelihood of Reaching His Ceiling: Low to Moderate

Drafted: Late First or Second Round
